Collection contains largely legal materials relating to Parker’s involvement as a witness in the 1982-1985 lawsuit between the Kansas-Nebraska Natural Gas Company against Marathon Oil Company and Double M. Oil Company over the Huntsman Field located near Sidney, Nebraska. Parker served as a consultant for Kansas-Nebraska Natural Gas and authored several reports, maps, and geological studies in support of their case.

Parker (1920- ), a geologist and oil explorer, was born in Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University in 1941. After working for Stanolind Oil, Parker joined Kirby Petroleum Company in 1952 and was in charge of exploration in the western United States and Canada.
